The Armenian Patriarchate of Istanbul has joined the Syriac clerics'
calls to the intimidated Christian communities in Syria, asking them
    to avoid leaving the country.

According to Hurriyet Daily News, the Pope Benedict XVI will attend a
meeting Middle East bishops in September as part of a program developed
    last year.

The prelate of the Turkish-Armenians, Archbisiob Aram Ateshyan,
has stressed the importance of the Christian population's remaining
    in Syria.

"If they presented the declaration to us, we would also support it
without hesitation," he was quoted as saying

The Greek Orthodox Church reminded the Syrian-Christians of the
spiritual importance of the Middle East, noting that the region was
the place where Christianity was born.
