Syrian school for Syrian Armenians opens in Yerevan

    09:45, 19 September, 2012

YEREVAN, SEPTEMBER 19, ARMENPRESS: A Syrian School will function at
the secondary school N14 in the centre of Yerevan during the current
month. As Armenpress was informed by the Head of the Department of
All-Armenian Programs at the Ministry of Diaspora of the Republic of
Armenia Atom Mkhitaryan, the Ministry of Diaspora in assistance with
the Ministry of Education and Sciences made such a decision by the
request and assistance of the parents of the Syrian Armenian
schoolchildren arrived in Armenia. `The selected school is not so
overladen, so the children will be able to go to school from morning.
The school will also have a Syrian coordinator, who will be appointed
the Deputy Director for the Syrian educational program', - said the
Head of the Department of All-Armenian Programs Atom Mkhitaryan.

Taking into account the fact that in Syria the educational year begins
in the second half of September, the Armenia's program as well will be
launched within that period. `Everything is planned so that upon their
return to Syria the children will be able to continue their studies
keeping up with the educational program. By now we have registered
more than 200 school-aged children, 85-90% of which will continue
their education in the Syrian school in Yerevan', - said Atom
    Mkhitaryan.

The necessary books will be brought to Armenia by the Beirut-Yerevan
coming flight. `We will not be able to provide all the children with
books, but the books will be multiplied and all the children will be
provided with the necessary materials', - added the Head of the
Department of All-Armenian Programs. He mentioned that the issue of
the Syrian Armenians students had also been discussed, for which in
the Armenian institutions of higher education there are discounts and
the tuition fee does not exceed the fee paid by the Armenian students.

Within the framework of the program of the Ministry of Diaspora of
Armenia `Ari Tun 2012' (Come back home 2012) in summer about 450 young
people returned from Syria to Armenia.
