Finland's parliament speaker to pay official visit to Armenia

    September 22, 2012 - 19:22 AMT

PanARMENIAN.Net - Armenian Parliament speaker Hovik Abrahamyan met
with his Finnish counterpart Eero Heinäluoma as a part of European
Conference of Presidents of Parliaments held under the auspices of
    PACE.

Inter-parliamentary cooperation, regional issues and Azerbaijani
assassin Ramil Safarov's case was on agenda.

Hovik Abrahamyan noted that Armenia attaches great importance to
development of ties with Scandinavian countries, particularly
enhancing high-level political dialogue with Finland.

He further invited Eero Heinäluoma to pay an official visit to
Armenia, with the invitation accepted with great delight.

Finnish official, in turn, underscored the importance of high-level
meetings, stressing the need to activate inter-parliamentary ties and
    cooperation with international institutions.

Dwelling on regional developments, Eero Heinäluoma deemed Safarov's
    extradition and release inadmissible.

Armenian parliament speaker, in turn, noted that the fact may set a
dangerous precedent in Europe, characterizing Hungary's step
incomprehensible and Azerbaijan's action a violation of international
norms and European law, aimed at destabilizing the regional situation
and escalating tensions, RA parlaiemtnary press service reported.
