European Parliament deputy: European Parliament supports Azerbaijan's
    position in Nagorno Karabakh Conflict

    M. Aliyev, Trend News Agency, Baku, Azerbaijan

Sept. 28--Azerbaijan and European Parliament have to put mutual
efforts for settlement of Nagorno Karabakh conflict, Slovenian former
foreign minister, member of European Parliament Ivo Vajgl said during
international conference on 'Construction of bridges' held in Baku on
    Thursday.

We support Azerbaijani critique towards international organizations
and consider that Minsk group has to do more for conflict settlement",
    he said.

In Vajgl's words, European Parliament and international law support
Azerbaijan's position in Nagorno Karabakh conflict.

"Azerbaijan has rights to expect more efforts from European Parliament
in settlement of conflict, and European parliament has to take action
    on this issue", he noted.

"Azerbaijan and European Parliament have to accomplish lots of work.
Our position is based on necessity of respect towards Azerbaijan's
fair position and towards retrieval of its sovereignty.

The refugees and internally displaces persons have to return to their
homes and their lands, they have to be provided with additional
    rights", Vajgl noted.

The deputy said, Azerbaijan has great ambitions, which enable its
important role on international arena today

The conflict between the two South Caucasus countries began in 1988
when Armenia made territorial claims against Azerbaijan. Armenian
armed forces have occupied 20 per cent of Azerbaijan since 1992,
including the Nagorno-Karabakh region and seven surrounding districts.

Azerbaijan and Armenia signed a ceasefire agreement in 1994. The
co-chairs of the OSCE Minsk Group -- Russia, France and the U.S. --
    are currently holding peace negotiations.

Armenia has not yet implemented the U.N. Security Council's four
resolutions on the liberation of the Nagorno-Karabakh and the
    surrounding regions.
