IN 2013 THE MINISTRY OF FOREIGN AFFAIRS WILL BE MORE ACTIVE

NKR Minister of Foreign Affairs Karen Mirzoyan convened a press
conference in connection with his first 100 days in office during which
he summed up the results of 2012 and spoke about the tasks of 2013.
According to the minister during the year of 2012 the most important
event for Karabakh was the presidential elections which were not only a
significant stage in statehood creation and its further consolidation
but they also let us say that the democratic processes in Karabakh
are steadily developing. By the Minister's estimation the election
results appeared to be quite close to international standards.
Speaking about the importance of the negotiation process Karen
Mirzoyan noted with regret that in 2012 again no essential progress
was achieved and the only reason for it was the position of Azerbaijan
that consistently aims to cease the negotiation process and lead it
to a deadlock.
He considers Ramil Safarov's extradition and conferring a national
hero's title upon him were a severe blow to the efforts of maintaining
peace and stability in the region.
Speaking about the programmes of 2013 Karen Mirzoyan noted, "We aim to
intensify the NKR Foreign Ministry's policy which will be directed not
only to the regulation of the Ministry's activity but also to making
it more visible both for the NKR society and for the foreign world.
Our main aim is to secure the active participation of the NKR in the
negotiation process".
In 2013 the Foreign Ministry's policy will be aimed at the
worldwide recognition of the NKR, the support of our people's the
self-determination right and at the intensification of the connections
between the NKR and the Diaspora.
