FIVE ARMENIAN NGOS SUGGEST AMENDING THE COUNTRY'S ELECTORAL CODE

Transparency International Anti-Corruption Center and four more
NGOs have conducted a survey and have found out that the problems
questioning the legitimacy of elections in Armenia come from the
    country's electoral code.

For this purpose, in Nov 2012 they submitted to the parliament a
package of amendments, but the parliamentary majority did not give it
due regard. "The ruling party is not interested in improving the code,
which is proved by its failure to fulfill the recommendations of the
OSCE/IDIHR and to reluctance to consider proposals by the opposition,"
    the NGO say.

According to the press release sent to ArmInfo, the organizations
suggest publishing the voter lists at the polling stations and in the
internet alongside with the lists of those who are no longer registered
in the place of their residence. They also suggest publishing the
lists of the voters who have been registered in a new place, as well
as ensuring the availability of the lists signed by the voters for
the observers, mass media and election agents.

The organizations say that the specified measures need no special
efforts, but require political will to restore the confidence in the
    electoral processes in Armenia.
