ANC URGES WORLD COMMUNITY TO STOP 'INDULGING ARMENIAN AUTHORITIES'

The oppositional Armenian National Congress (ANC) has made a statement
on February 19 urging the world community, particularly, the observer
missions, to stop 'indulging the criminal authorities of Armenia'
and refuse from the practice of presenting the legislative "tricks"
of the authorities as positive reforms.
"It is time to realize that the problem of the Armenian elections
is not in legislative omissions, violations or illegalities, but in
system mechanisms such has inclusion of nearly 700,000 citizens living
outside the country in the voter rolls and in the unwillingness of
the authorities to take any serious measures against multiple voting,"
the statement reads.
ANC says it has verified more than enough cases of election
violations to classify the election results as a distortion of the
truth. The state reads that the ruling regime has proven that it
has no inclination at all to back down from the use of the system
it created to carry out election fraud, despite the promises it has
given to the contrary.
To note, by preliminary results of the election, the incumbent
President of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan obtained 58.64% (861,160 votes),
the leader of Heritage Party Raffi Hovannisian - 36.75% (539,672),
Hrant Bagratyan - 2.15%, Paruyr Hayrikyan - 1.23%, Andreas Ghukasyan
- 0.57%, Vardan Sedrakyan - 0.42%, Arman Melikyan - 0.24%. The CIS
and European observers gave generally positive assessment of the
presidential election, calling it democratic and legitimate despite
some insignificant violations.
