AZERI PARLIAMENTARIANS: SARGSYAN'S REELECTION AS ARMENIAN PRESIDENT OBSTRUCTS KARABAKH SETTLEMENT

The parliament of Azerbaijan does not expect progress in resolving
the problem of Nagorno-Karabakh with Serzh Sargsyan's reelection as
    Armenian president.

By retaining power, Sargsyan will try to preserve the status quo in
the conflict over Nagorno-Karabakh, Azeri parliamentarian and Chairman
of the Democratic Reform Party Asim Mollazade told Interfax.

"The settlement process has been fully frozen in the past years.

Armenia has stopped even imitating its involvement in this process. I
think this policy will continue," he said.

Aydin Mirzazade of the ruling party New Azerbaijan also believes
that Sargsyan's reelection will not promote a peaceful settlement of
the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict. "It is by Sargsyan's efforts that the
negotiating process has been torpedoed," he said.

"Sargsyan's reelection will have a negative effect on the resolution of
the conflict over Nagorno-Karabakh," parliamentarian Zahid Oruc said.
