    ARMENIA'S SECOND-LARGEST PARTY NOT COMMENTING ON POLL RESULTS

    Haykakan Zhamanak, Armenia
    Feb 20 2013

    [Translated from Armenian]

    The Prosperous Armenia Party - which has the second largest presence
    in the country's parliament - is not commenting on the results of
    the 18 February election, which are being disputed by number-two
    finisher Raffi Hovhannisyan, Haykakan Zhamanak newspaper reported on
    20 February.

    The paper asked the party's official spokesman, MP Tigran Urikhanyan,
    to comment on Hovhannisyan's claim of victory and calls for protests
    at the alleged falsification of the poll.

    "We do not have any comment on that matter," Urikhanyan was quoted
    as saying. He added that Prosperous Armenia "does not rule out"
    congratulating incumbent Serzh Sargsyan on his victory.

    BBCM note: According to official preliminary results, Sargsyan
    won re-election in the first round with 59 per cent of the vote;
    Hovhannisyan came in second with 37 per cent.
