TURKISH FM: "ABDULLAH GUL'S CONGRATULATION LETTER TO SERZH SARGSYAN REALIZED IN ACCORDANCE WITH OUR NATIONAL TRADITIONS

    Azerbaijan

Istanbul. Mais Alizadeh - APA. "Turkey's President Abdullah Gul's
congratulation letter to Serzh Sargsyan on his re-election as
President of Armenia was realized in accordance with our national
traditions. As before, after the announcement of the election results
in other countries, sent congratulatory letter"

This is stated in a response to APA's Turkey correspondent's question
to the Foreign Minister of Turkey: "Does Abdullah Gul's congratulations
to Serj Sarkisyan before announcement of the results of presidential
elections accordance with Turkey's diplomatic tradition or it is only
personal initiative of the esteemed president?"

In a statement the Turkish Foreign Ministry stated that Turkey
recognized Armenia's independence on 16 December 1991: "In the
framework of international rules of politeness in mutual form may
be sent messages. It will be useful to assess the issue as part of
    its content."

Note that the Turkish President Abdullah Gul on February 20, before
the announcement of the Central Election Commission of Armenia,
the official results of the presidential elections in the country,
congratulated Serzh Sargsyan on the occasion of his re-election
as president of Armenia. Information was disseminated by Anatolia
    news agency.
