The leader of the Armenian Pan-National Movement (APNM) has
highlighted the need of structural changes in the opposition alliance.

Addressing the party's special session on Saturday, Aram Manukyan said
that it is now time for the Armenian National Congress to implement
    organizational and structural reforms.

`The political situation has changed. Given that the authorities will
try - true to their style - to split up the opposition, they will
create false opposition streams; they are already in the process of
doing so. Our opinion is that we have reached a situation that is
going to be more effective in terms of resisting challenges,' he said.

Manukyan said the APNM has always pursued bold policies and been
always ready to initiate reforms. He promised to enrich the party with
more non-partisans and representatives of intellectual circles.

`We have discussed the issue with the youth who are more disposed to
reforms. A higher liberalization will help involve different social
groups and circles of the society, raising their participation in
decision-making processes, as well as their protection level,' he
    added.

Manukyan said the plan to create a separate political force called
Armenian National Congress, does not imply political force's
    dissolution.

`The APNM maintains its charter and its membership in different
international organizations. This step helps preserve all the
structures; it takes advantage of all the informative, professional
and territorial resources and potentials,' said Manukyan.
Noting that the moment for reforms has matured, the politician
expressed belief that the session will vote in favor of the proposed
    plan.
