Stepan Demirchyan, an Armenian National Congress (ANC) parliamentary
group member, stated in parliament on Tuesday that on February 18
the Armenian people proved that they are not going to be humiliated
in their own country.
According to him, the Feb. 18 presidential election in Armenia can
be entered in the list of rigged elections in Armenia.
"That was to be expected because the authorities and fair elections
are incompatible concepts. What democratic elections can we talk about
if the masterminds behind the previous election frauds and the ones
behinds the March 1 slaughter have not been exposed or the punished?"
On Feb. 18, Armenia's society rejected the ruling regime that has
made people feel disappointed and emigrate from Armenia.
"On February 18, the people said 'no' to the oligarchic system in the
country, election frauds and election bribes. The elections and further
developments clearly showed that people demand reforms, which must
be started with the formation of the people-supported authorities,"
Mr Demirchyan said.
