    TODAY MARKS INTERNATIONAL CHILDREN'S DAY: SMALL ARMENIANS ALSO PROMISED BIG SURPRISES AND FESTIVITIES

    June 1 is celebrated around the globe as the International Children's
    Day. It was first proclaimed by the World Conference for the Well-being
    of Children in 1925,

    The decision to mark the day was adopted by Women's International
    Federation in 1949. The United Nations approved the plan, declaring
    the protection of children's life and health one of its priorities.

    The day was first celebrated in 1950.

    Armenia's capital, Yerevan, and different cities and towns across the
    country are planning today different festive events to entertain the
    small citizens.

    The Yerevan City Hall has unveiled a list of events planned in
    different parts of the capital city .

    Thus, the Yerevan Zoological Park will offer free entrance to all
    children throughout the day. It has planned different entertaining
    events and games, as well as brain rings, promising prizes to the
    winners.

    Children up to the age 15 can have free access to the merry-go-rounds
    and rides in Yerevan's Haghtanak Park. Different children's bands will
    perform on stage till late evening here. A big concert is scheduled
    at 11:00 pm local time. The event organizers also promise a festive
    firework.

    Liberty Square will host the annual tradition chalk art contest which
    will last from afternoon until late evening.

    Armenia's best DJs will perform in Northerrn Avenue from 11:00 am until
    night. The special marathon program also includes well-forgotten games,
    a show of children's groups and a street dance performance.

    Companies producing confectionary and drinks have also prepared
    surprises in different parts of Yerevan.

    The Zoological Park will host a drawing day event for all its small
    visitors.

    The Yerevan municipality promises further different events in all
    the administrative districts of the capital.
