AMBASSADOR: FRANCE IS COMMITED TO FIND SOLUTION FOR PEACEFUL SETTLEMENT OF NK CONFLICT

    Trend, Azerbaijan
    June 3 2013

France as a co-chair of OSCE Minsk Group is very much commited to
find a solution for peaceful settlement of Nagorno Karabakh conflict,
French ambassador to Azerbaijan Pascal Monnier told media today.

"France and Azerbaijan discuss bilateral relationships and
Nagorno-Karabakh conflict settlement on the level of foreign
ministers," he said. "The think tanks must think about the future
of the region. So I think that if this kind of report is brought
to the governments of Armenia and Azerbaijan and OSCE Minsk Group,
it can be a positive contribution to settlement of the conflict."

The conflict between the two South Caucasus countries began in 1988
when Armenia made territorial claims against Azerbaijan. Armenian
armed forces have occupied 20 per cent of Azerbaijan since 1992,
including the Nagorno-Karabakh region and seven surrounding districts.

Azerbaijan and Armenia signed a ceasefire agreement in 1994. The
co-chairs of the OSCE Minsk Group, Russia, France and the U.S. are
    currently holding peace negotiations.

Armenia has not yet implemented the U.N. Security Council's four
resolutions on the liberation of the Nagorno-Karabakh and the
    surrounding regions.
