KARABAKH PROBLEM CAN BE SOLVED BY PEACEFUL MEANS - CSTO SG

    ITAR-TASS, Russia
    June 27, 2013 Thursday 05:35 PM GMT+4

    - The Nagorno-Karabakh conflict should be settled only by peaceful
means, CSTO Secretary-General Nikolai Bordyuzha said on Thursday.

"Only peace talks and consensus allow us to solve the complicated
problem. There are no other variants," Bordyuzha said.

"The latest events in the Caucasus prove once again that it is very
easy to unleash the conflict and take a decision on using force. Then
it is very difficult to launch the peace process." "Unfortunately,
in the 1990's we witnessed military conflicts in many areas on the
post-Soviet space. This is Central Asia and the west of the former
Soviet Union: we experienced through all difficulties to reach
peace in the region." "Many politicians forgot about this negative
experience. They should remember what happened in 1990's. This will
have a chilling effect," Bordyuzha said.

"The CSTO knows the situation in the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict zone.

Of course, we watch the situation," he added.

"The OSCE Minsk Group deals with the conflict. I'm against anyone,
including the CSTO, to interfere in the settlement and add new
instruments to achieve the goal." "This is counter-productive,"
    Bordyuzha stressed.

The settlement of the conflict "is the matter of the leadership of
Armenia and Azerbaijan with the mediation of the Minsk Group," the
    secretary-general said.
