HRAYR TOVMASYAN DOES NOT CONSIDER PAYING 100 DRAMS ILLEGAL

    14:24, 25 July, 2013

YEREVAN, JULY 25, ARMENPRESS: Paying 100 drams to the Yerevan public
buses and microbuses for the transportation services is not illegal.

This was stated by the Minister of Justice of the Republic of Armenia
Hrayr Tovmasyan at the briefing with the journalists on July 25. "If
the fare has been increased only to make some people rich, I assure
you that any member of the government would be against it", - said
Hrayr Tovmasyan, as reported by Armenpress.

"If in the result of the fare increase we do not have buses or
microbuses, which arrive in time, which do not wait to gather 15
people to drive, which do not work after 20:00 or become 200 drams
after 20:00. If we have this situation, certainly this discontent
is objective. But if we have a new kind of transport, we should sit
together and discuss if we want it or not", - said the Minister of
Justice of the Republic of Armenia Hrayr Tovmasyan. According to him,
knowing the Yerevan Mayor Taron Margaryan, there will be solutions.

Hrayr Tovmasyan noted that he likes walking and does not use the
    public transport means.

Protest actions are being held in the capital of the Republic. The
participants of the demonstrations demand to make the transport fare
    100 drams again.

The fare of the public transport means - microbuses and buses -
was increased by 50 AMD since July 20, thus making it 150 AMD
and 100 AMD for the trolleybuses. The fare for the underground was
remained unchanged. As earlier was stated by the Head of the Yerevan
Municipality Transport Department Henrik Navasardyan at the press
conference held on July 18, the transport tariff is not connected only
with the increase of the gas tariff. The increase was caused as well
by the rise in price for the cars, spare parts and all kinds of the
fuel. The increase of the transport fares is also connected with the
raise in price for gas. The increase of the gas tariff in Armenia has
been put into force since July 7 2013 and the increase of the public
transport fare - since July 20.
