ARMENIA'S DEFENSE MINISTER CHAIRS MEETING TO DISCUSS FREEDOM-FIGHTERS' PROBLEMS

Armenia's Minister of Defense Seyran Ohanyan convened a meeting on
Wednesday to discuss measures to improve the social conditions of
freedom-fighters and reserved officers.
Participating in the meeting were First Deputy Minister of Defense
David Tonoyan, Deputy Minister of Defense Ara Nazaryan, Vice-Chief
of the Joint Staff, General Levon Mnatsakanyan and other officials.
The meeting formed a working group headed by David Tonoyan.
Minister Ohanyan stressed the need for coordinated solutions to
freedom-fighters' problems and instructed the working group to ensure
active involvement of the Ministry of Defense in drafting relevant
bills to find effective solutions to social problems.
On the other hand, the Ministry of Defense disapproves of such
extreme measures as hunger-strikes and sit-down protests and calls
on freedom-fighters to conduct a constructive dialogue and jointly
find the ways of resolving the current problems.
