Trespasser Shepherd Was Azeri
Mustafa Ulker, the 35-year-old shepherd shot dead at the
Armenian-Turkish border, was an Azeri, the Zaman reported, referring
to the mayor of the village of Akaka, the shepherd's native village.
The mayor told reporters after the funeral that the shepherd did not
have a gun, he had only a knife, and he was shot from the back. The
statement of the Russian side was for their excuse, the mayor said.
Note that the shepherd was shot by Russian border guards after
crossing the Armenian-Turkish border. Later the press secretary of the
Russian Federal Border Guard Service Sergey Grechin stated that the
shepherd was the first to fire at the border guards.
