    ARMENIA'S RULING PARTY NOT WANTING TO HOLD EXECUTIVE BOARD MEETING - NEWSPAPER

    August 07, 2013 | 06:48

    YEREVAN. - Even though President Serzh Sargsyan and National Assembly
    Speaker Hovik Abrahamyan have returned from their vacation, the ruling
    Republican Party of Armenia (RPA) is not preparing to hold an Executive
    Board (EB) session on Thursday, Hraparak daily reports.

    "There have been no EB meetings for several weeks, now. Why will it
    not be held this week? We asked our RPA source.

    "'Most of the MPs are still resting, they are not in the country;
    they will come, we will convene.'

    "[To note,] the nominations for the MP candidates in Election District
    No. 38 of Syunik Region have begun on [Monday,] August 5. The elections
    in this area are slated for September 29.

    "According to some news, [President and RPA leader] Serzh Sargsyan
    instructed the RPA Syunik regional organization to first decide on
    their own upon the [RPA] candidate. And the chairman of the RPA Syunik
    regional organization is former Regional Governor Surik Khachatryan,
    who did not rule out even the likelihood of his running," Hraparak
    writes.
