    Tuesday, August 20, 15:01

As of August 20 there were no delays of the rail freight operations
from Poti port to Armenia, but delays are possible over Poti flood
alert, Vahe Davtyan, Spokesperson of the South Caucasus Railway CJSC
    told ArmInfo.

He said specialists of the company regularly monitor the situation in
Poti - the biggest sea port in Georgia. Floods have seriously damaged
hydro system on the River of Rioni that protects the town from floods
and serves as a bridge. Specialists say most part of Poti and the
port will be totally flooded unless immediate measures are taken to
restore the hydro-system facility. The local authorities, in turn,
say that immediate repair of the hydro-system will cost 18 million
lari and they are currently working to find the necessary sum.

    V. Davtyan said that many citizens of Armenia who earlier booked
tickets to the resort towns of Ureki and Kobuleti began changing
    their final destination to Batumi.
