POLITICAL EXPERT: MOSCOW IS FORCED TO TAKE INTO CONSIDERATION YEREVAN'S VIEWPOINT IN THE REGIONAL POLICY

Moscow is forced to take into consideration Yerevan's viewpoint in
its regional policy, the head of the political research department
of the Caucasus Institute, Sergey Minasyan, told ArmInfo correspondent.
"Incidentally, the point is about the relations of Russia with Turkey
as well as with Azerbaijan. Armenia's viewpoint is also taken into
consideration in the efforts of Moscow's intermediary mission not to
let resumption of the military phase of the Karabakh conflict.
Moreover, for the last years Armenia has become more significant for
Russia, taking into consideration the present low level of relations
with Baku linked with shut down of the Gabala radar station, and
almost hopeless deadlock in the relations with Georgia after the
08.08.08. war", - Minasyan said and added that against the background
of the negative dynamics in the relations with Azerbaijan and Georgia,
in Moscow they understand very well that if they "lose" Armenia,
that will mean the end of their military and political presence in
the South Caucasus.
Just for this reason, the Kremlin does not even try to hide its
jealousy regarding Armenia's attempts to deepen relations with the EU
and initial Association Agreement and DCFTA over the November summit
of the Eastern Partnership in Vilnus, Minasyan said.
