Opposition Armenian MP wants to see `popular strength'

    14:42 - 01.09.13

Aram Manukyan, an Armenian National Congress (ANC) parliamentary group
member, believes Armenia needs public and political process as the
only way to a change of power.

`Even if I disagree with something, I want to see will gaining
strength, patience running out, stronger-worded statements and
stronger hope, a maturing idea of the need for combined efforts to
resolve the problems,' Manukyan told Tert.am.

As an opposition member, he does not want to mention splits within
society. The splits are the result of the Armenian authorities'
activities. `If the authorities are excluded from the process, the
    people will unite,' he said.

With respect to `active political autumn,' Manukyan noted the
formation of different civil initiatives and movements. `It is not the
problem of freedom-fighters or historical monuments. The authorities
    are in universal crisis.'

With respect to Heritage party Chairman Raffi Hovannisian's
participation in freedom-fighters' rallies, Manukyan is for public
    protests.
`I view the problem as a general process. I would like the processes
to be more active,' he said.
