ARMENIA'S ACCESSION TO CUSTOMS UNION WILL SUBSTANTIALLY REDUCE TRANSIT COSTS OF EXPORTERS- PM SAYS

YEREVAN, October 2. / ARKA /. Armenia's accession to the Customs Union,
although it does not share a common border with any of its members
will substantially reduce the transit costs of Armenian exporters,
Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan said on Wednesday during a Q&A session
    of parliament.

He said all member countries use the same type documents and once the
goods with relevant documents are in the territory of the Customs Union
there will be no need of customs clearance and goods will cross the
border in a simplified manner without inspection . This will provide
an opportunity to significantly reduce transit costs of exporters,"
    he said.

On September 3 President Serzh Sargsyan pledged to make Armenia
part of the trade bloc in a joint statement with his Russian
counterpart Vladimir Putin following their talks in Moscow. Sargsyan
also promised to "participate in the formation of the Eurasian
Economic Union" of ex-Soviet states. .-0- - - See more at:
