Armenian, Russian parliamentary commissions issue joint statement on
    Armenia's accession to Customs Union

    15:14 - 17.11.13

The Standing Committee on Foreign Relations, Parliament of Armenia,
the Committee for the Commonwealth of Independent States, Eurasian
Integration and Ties with Nationals, and the roundtable on the
parliaments' role in and prospects for development of integration
processes in the Eurasian economic area held a joint meeting and
issued the following statement on Sunday.

    The statement reads:

`The sides consider important the Republic of Armenia's decision to
accede to the Customs Union and participate in forming the Eurasian
Economic Union, the statement on Armenia's participation in the
Eurasian integration process by the Armenian president and the Customs
Union Heads of State in Minsk, on October 4, 2013, the decision `On
the Republic of Armenia's accession to the Customs Union and to the
Common Economic Space of the Republic of Belarus, Republic of
Kazakhstan and Russian Federation' by the Supreme Eurasian Economic
Council, as well as the memorandum on deeper cooperation between
Armenia and the Eurasian Economic Commission signed in Yerevan on
    November 6, 2013.'

The sides admit their special responsibility for informing their
voters of the significance of expanding the Customs Union, including
the expansion by means of Armenia's accession to it, to develop it
into an efficient mechanism for further integration of states, in a
stable and long-lasting format attractive to citizens and business.

The sides highly appreciate the significance of interparliamentary
ties as an important mechanism of explaining the essence of the
integration process to the public, which affords ample opportunities
    for achieving progress.

The sides call on their partners to continue cooperation within
international organizations - PACE, OSCE PA, BSEC PA, NATO PA and CIS
    Interparliamentary Assembly.

The sides welcome the results of discussions and state the need for
consistent work to implement the decisions approved by the Supreme
Eurasian Council and by the president of Armenia in Minsk, on October
    24, 2013.
