Armenia's migration rate, population statistics down in 2013

    12:27 * 01.02.14

The latest findings by Armenia's National Statistical Service reveal a
lower migration rate and a decrease in the number of permanent
    residents.

    >From January until December 2013, a total of 1,452,85 people arrived
in, and 1,494,86 departed from, the country. The negative balance is
thus 42,001, which is lower from the previous year's records.

As for the permanent residents, their number is 3,17,400 as of January
1, 2014, i.e. - 9,500 people less compared to the same period of last
year. The findings further suggest that the urban population is
1,914,300 (of whom 1,068,600 are residents of capital Yerevan), with
    rural population being 1,103,100.

Since January 1 2013, the number of urban and rural residents has thus
decreased by 3,200 and 6,300, respectively.
