    ARMENIAN MAY BECOME DEPUTY MAYOR IN FRANCE

    Paris City Council member, Paris9th District mayoral candidate Delphine
    Burkli opened up her main campaign headquarters.

    Burkli was accompanied by several other members on her election list,
    including French Armenian Alexis Govdjian, who is fourth in the list,
    Nouvelles d'Armenie reports.

    If Burkli is elected Paris 9th District Mayor, Govdjian may become
    deputy mayor.

    The mayoral candidate is well acquainted with the Armenian community,
    and she speaks about the "Armenian spirit."

    Burkli grew up in Paris' Montholon district, which was the Armenian
    refugees' bastion since the early 20th century.

    "I am proud that Alexis Govdjian may join the list that I head,"
    Delphine Burkli stated.
