Yerevan/Mediamax/. Director of the Institute of Oriental Studies
of National Academy of Sciences of Armenia, specialist of Turkish
studies Ruben Safrastyan said that 2014 is a year of domestic political
    tension in Turkey.

Ruben Safrastyan noted during his meeting with journalists that the
domestic political tension is conditioned by both collision between
Turkish Prime Minister Erdogan and his former ally Fetullah Gyulen
as well as local self-government elections due on March 30 in Turkey,
    Mediamax reports.

"The political struggle in the elections between Erdogan-led Justice
and Development Party and Gyulen's supporters will be rather dramatic.

The collision is a serious blow to Erdogan's government", said the
    specialist of Turkish studies.

According to Ruben Safrastyan, Erdogan's priority is the country's
domestic political situation but failures in the foreign policy
seriously harm his rating inside the country.

"We see that Erdogan's foreign policy is gradually assessed as more
failed. Turkey's goal is to take the lead in Near East but it wrongly
estimated its own capabilities and started pursuing an adventurous
policy as a result, for instance, in Syrian issue. Besides, Turkey's
reputation in the Arab world has weakened", said Ruben Safrastyan.
