Social discontent may develop into Armenian 'Maidan' - Zoya Tadevosyan

    13:27 * 23.02.14

In an interview with Tert.am, Armenian National Congress (ANC) party
member Zoya Tadevosyan commented on ANC parliamentary group member
Hrant Bagratyan's statement that the enforcement of funded pensions
will results in an "Armenian Maidan."

"The problem of funded pensions is rather acute, accompanied by social
discontent, worsening economic and social situation, injustice. This
all may gradually develop into developments similar to Maidan," she
    said.

    Do you see any threat?

When society just exists, but does not live a life of dignity, it is a
real threat. But a life of dignity implies an end to injustice. The
authorities must be jailed, and just people must rule the country. It
is impossible to live in an atmosphere of fear, injustice, poverty,
emigration. Some day the people will come to realize it and find an
    opportunity for "Maidan."

Chairman of the Standing Committee on Financial-Credit and Budgetary
Affairs of Armenia's Parliament Gagik Minasyan stated that before
introducing funded pensions Armenia's authorities did not consider the
issue of pensions of the rural population and labor migrants.

They are involved in the funded pensions system due to money
transfers. In any case, Armenia's authorities have a share in
    everything.
The Haykakan Zhamanak (Armenian Times) newspaper has presented
analyses comparing monthly wages and prices in Armenia and in the
United States.Have you made your own analysis?

I have not read this analysis, but if we make comparisons with the
leading developed states, I should say it is impossible because the
two states cannot be compared. One of them decides the global
development policies, the other is eking out its existence. Before
wages are compared, the countries' economic development and potential
be comparable to the other country's. We have high unemployment,
poverty and emigration levels in Armenia. Is there a country like ours
to compare it with Armenia? It may be Tajikistan. If we compare
Armenia with Tajikistan, the countries are nearly at the same level.
If such a comparison is to our honor, let us compare.

What is the way out of the situation?

If we view the state as a family, the head of the family is
responsible for the situation. The other family members have each one
their own share of responsibility. But if the head of the family is
doing his utmost to prevent the improvement of the family's situation,
    the family separates.

The four non-coalition forces proposed setting up a 'gas committee.'
However, there were some disagreements, and the rules of the game
    changed. What's the reason?

It is not that the rules of the game changed, but a restricted
information rule was enforced for the facts to be established by the
committee not to be published. This is the government's work style. It
is so everywhere, and no one is held responsible. They want to show
that they do not lose anything if the committee if set up. However,
even the committee's first meeting showed they have much to lose.

Chairman of the Public Services Regulatory Commission Robert Nazaryan
stated that the reason for doubts about the caloric value of gas is
    that "our pockets are empty."

So the caloric value of gas is in direct proportion to our pockets?
This discovery is worth a Nobel Prize. It is a know-how.
