Insurance companies avoid performing duties properly - NGO rep

Insurance companies deny public transport and taxis liability

NGO Babken Pipoyan told Tert.am.
"Some companies refused to insure such cars, but began issuing 3-month
insurance policies. However, we all know well it is much costlier than
a one-year insurance policy," he said.
The reason is that the cars are "a high risk" because they are
operated throughout the day.
"This is a way of extorting more money practiced by insurance
companies. Law envisages fines for failing to be insured, while
government-licensed insurance companies are not properly performing
their duties," Pipoyan said.
He pointed out the need for supervisory bodies.
