118,000 ENTRIES POSTED ON ARMENIAN-LANGUAGE WIKIPEDIA OVER TWO MONTHS THANKS TO CAMPAIGN "ONE ARMENIAN - ONE ENTRY>>

YEREVAN, May 22. /ARKA/. The Armenian-language Wikipedia has grown
to 118,000 entries in two months since the launch of a campaign "One
Armenian - One Entry>> in March 2014, Mher Bekaryan, representative
of Wikimedia Armenia organization and one of the organizers of the
    campaign, told ARKA News Agency.

The aim of the campaign is to enlarge Wikipedia by adding high-quality
entries in Armenian language to it. If every Armenian wherever he/she
lives posts at least one entry, the Armenian-language Wikipedia will
    be enlarged a great deal.

Some 114,560 Armenian language entries were posted at the initial
    stage of the campaign.

"More and more Armenians are joining our initiative from day to day,
and now we have 118,100 Armenian language entries on the website and
their number is growing from hour to hour," Bekaryan said.

He said that at the initial stage there were no more than 250
people involved in the project, while now the number of participants
    reached 400.

In his words, many entries on physics, chemistry and mathematics
appear here thanks to involvement of scientists in the campaign.

Armenian Defense Minister Seyran Ohanyan, TV broadcaster Gayane
Aslamazyan, movie director and actor Serzh Avedikyan, play writer
and former deputy culture minister Karine Khodikyan and many other
prominent politicians, singers and actors joined the initiative.

Armenian Diaspora Ministry joined the initiative as well.

Wiki meetings with prominent scientists, writers, artists, actors
and political activists as well as seminars are planned top be held
    as part of the project.

It is also planned to open a Wiki club in Gyumri, the second largest
city in Armenia, to attract its residents. -0---
