RECOLLECTIONS OF KARABAKH WAR: AZERBAIJANIS STORMED THE VILLAGE, MY HUSBAND PUSHED ME TO THE FOREST

    May 23, 2014 | 08:30

YEREVAN. - Former resident of Karachinar village of Shaumyan Region
Manya Hovsepyan left home back in 1992.

The 78-year-old woman was forced to flee because of war, she said
sharing her memories with the Armenian News-NEWS.am correspondent.

"I remember every minute of June 13, 1992. That happened at half past
seven. When Azerbaijanis stormed the village, my husband pushed me
in the direction of the forest. I have not seen him so far," the
    woman said.

Her husband, an employee of internal ministry, managed to save his
wife but left in the village to blunt the attack.

Escaping from the village, Manya and her neighbor went to neighboring
    Gyulistan village.

"Many people were killed there. The women were baking bread on the
day. They left everything and escaped," she said. Then, the women
    walked to Stepanakert.

Manya Hovsepyan has two sons and two daughters, 12 grandchildren and
    five great-grandchildren.

"I was not afraid of anything when my husband was next to me,"
    she smiles.

Fleeing Karachinar, the woman left all her belongings, including
documents. "But our house was not destroyed".
