ANOTHER MOCKERY OF ARMENIA BY RUSSIAN AMBASSADOR

    Hakob Badalyan, Political Commentator
    Comments - Thursday, 29 May 2014, 11:54

The Russian ambassador to Armenia Ivan Volinkin is again mocking at the
Armenian people. Commenting on sale of Russian weapons to Azerbaijan
yesterday, Volinkin said it is business and there is no threat.

This comment seems to set down with iron logic that Russia is faithful
to its alliance with Armenia, to its letter and spirit.

In reality, however, this comment teases and insults Armenia and its
citizens, hinting that they are not even of commercial value to them.

When modern mass destruction weapons are sold to the enemy of Armenia,
more than any other country sells to Azerbaijan, and then they go on
to state in answer to Armenia's concerns that it is just business,
one cannot think of bigger irony and insult.

In other words, Russia's saying that if Azerbaijan has at least
commercial importance to Moscow, Armenia, the life of Armenians,
Armenian soldiers and peaceful people who are the daily target of
those weapons, cost nothing to Russia.

In Armenia, however, this outrageous contempt is perceived as
explanation, a substantial one. Not by everyone, of course, but
these explanations have "evangelical" value for the government and
the community of subjects of the government and the empire.

As to those who do not accept those explanations, the Russian
ambassador recommends declaring them enemies of the Armenian-Russian
friendship and rendering them harmless. In reality, those who deny
these explanations are enemies of the Russian-Azerbaijani business,
not the "Armenian-Russian friendship". They do not allow Russia to
run their business with Armenia's enemy, helping the latter to boost
    pressure on Armenia and Artsakh.

Russia also needs this pressure on Armenia, perhaps Russia needs it
in the first place because it was the blackmail that helped Moscow
force Armenia on September 3 to renounce the process of security
diversification and upgrade. Before September 3 Russia and its
"fifth column" in Armenia flooded Armenia with blackmail and threat
    on Artsakh.

The process of security diversification is over, instead security
threats are growing likely, evidence to this being the frequency
of sabotage actions and victims at the border. In other words,
total blackmail and threat is becoming a reality, demonstrating that
this was the purpose of thwarting the process in the Euro-Atlantic
direction, preventing Armenia from seeking for security alternatives
and Russian-Turkish-Azerbaijani willful actions against Armenia.
