Azerbaijani armed forces control contact line, Armenian forces repulsed

    2 August 2014, 15:58 (GMT+05:00)
    By Gulgiz Dadashova

The contact line is fully under control of the Azerbaijani armed
forces following the attack of the reconnaissance-raiding groups of
    the aggressor Armenia.

Azerbaijan's Defence Ministry made such annnouncment on August 2.

Invader Armenia`s armed forces have violated ceasefire in a planned
manner in various directions of the Armenia-Azerbaijan state border
and on the contact line of troops and attacked positions of our armed
forces in the last few days.

Last time, the Armenian forces again attacked the Azerbaijani
positions on the frontline in the direction of Aghdam-Aghdara on
August 1 and on the night of August 2.

"Thanks to the valour of servicemen of our armed forces` units, the
attack was resolutely repulsed. The enemy was forced to retreat
    suffering loses," the ministry reported.

As a result of fierce battles, four Azerbaijani servicemen, including
warrant officer Aliyev Parvin, junior warrant officer Huseynov Rahil,
junior warrant officer Ahmadov Elchin and career serviceman Guliyev
    Sarkhan Geyrat, were killed.

Also, the Azerbaijani Interior Ministry reported that the resident of
Azerbaijani Gazakh region bordering with Armenia was wounded as a
result of fire, opened by the Armenian armed forces.Villager Chingiz
Aslanov got wounded in the leg.

The ceasefire on the Armenian-Azerbaijani contact line was broken 73
times by the Armenian armed forces during the last 24 hours.

The day earlier, eight Azerbaijani servicemen were killed while
repelling the enemy attacks. According to the Armenian press, the
Armenian armed forces suffered more than 50 loses with many wounded.

Azerbaijani Defence Minister Zakir Hasanov has ordered the awarding of
the servicemen who died and were wounded during the combat mission.

The Defence Ministry stated the contact line is fully under control of
the Azerbaijani armed forces and the blood of theAzerbaijani
    servicemen will be avenged.

The ministry noted that modern weapons and ammunition will be used in
case of necessity to repulse the enemy's armed forces.

Over 20 percent of Azerbaijan's internationally recognized territory,
including Nagorno-Karabakh and seven adjacent regions, has been
occupied by Armenian armed forces since a lengthy war between the two
South Caucasus countries in the early 1990s. The UN Security Council
has passed four resolutions calling for an Armenian pullout, but they
have not been enforced to date.

Peace talks mediated by Russia, France and the U.S. have produced no
    results so far.
