    ARTISTS HOUSE HOLDS TJEKNAVORIAN RETROSPECTIVE

    A retrospective of noted Iranian Armenian composer and conductor
    Loris Tjeknavorian will begin today at Artists House in Tehran.

    According to IRNA, each month a work by Tjeknavorian will be put
    on display at the house's Shahnaz Hall. The event is being held in
    collaboration between Iran Music House and Artists House.

    Chief of Artists House, Majid Sarsangi, said that composer Houshang
    Kamkar and director Khosro Sinaei will speak on Tjeknavorian's works.

    The composer will be honored at the opening ceremony today in
    recognition of his lifetime artistic activities.

    'Rostam and Sohrab' and 'Pardis and Parisa' operas, a sonata for
    'Good Friday for Organ'; 'Simorgh' (an Iranian dance Drama staged by
    London Ballet Company) are among his compositions.

    Tjeknavorian is one of the most celebrated cultural figures in Armenia
    and Iran.

    As one of the leading conductors of his generation, he has led
    international orchestras throughout the world: in Austria, the UK,
    the USA, Canada, Hungary, Copenhagen, Iran, Finland, Russia, Armenia,
    Thailand, Hong Kong, South Africa and Denmark.
