Putin expects ratification of treaty on Armenia's accession to
Eurasian Union by end of 2014

    MINSK. Oct 10

Russian President Vladimir Putin has announced that Armenia is willing
to become a member of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) and expects
that the parliaments of all its member-states will endorse a treaty on
this country's accession to the union by the end of the year.

"We will sign a treaty on Armenia's accession to the Eurasian Economic
Union in the course of the current session. We expect that the
lawmakers of our states will also endorse it in concord by the end of
    the year," Putin said.

"In our view, Armenia is ready to work in the Eurasian Economic Union
on an equal footing with Russia, Belarus, and Kazakhstan," he said.

In a relatively brief period of time since the fall of 2013, our
Armenian partners "have aligned their economic regulations with the
common standards and brought national law into line with the norms of
    our integration association," he said.

"We hope that we will see positive macroeconomic effects in the first
year or two after Armenia's accession," Putin said.
