GERMAN INVESTORS WOULD LIKE TO MAKE NEW INVESTMENTS IN ARMENIAN ECONOMY, SAYS MARGUERITE SHTEFFEL

YEREVAN, October 13. / ARKA /. German investors would like to make
fresh investments in the Armenian economy, said on Monday Marguerite
Shteffel, an expert on South Caucasus of the German ministry of
economics and technology, when speaking at an Armenian-German business
    forum in Yerevan.

She said Germany is the third largest world's exporter and the third
    largest business partner of Armenia.

"We plan not only to preserve this position, but also to expand it,"
said Shteffel. According to her, Armenia and Germany have a great
    untapped economic potential.

German ambassador to Armenia Rainer More said his country is interested
in finding new business partners in Armenia.

"We want to improve financial indicators of our cooperation and ensure
direct contacts between the entrepreneurs, which is more productive
in terms of looking for potential partners", said Morel.

According to Armenia's National Statistical Service, in the first
half of this year Germany was the third largest foreign investor
in the Armenian economy with about 48.1 billion drams of investment
channeled into Armenia's real economy sector, of which more than 9.2
billion drams were foreign direct investments.

According to official data, an equivalent of 446.3 billion drams
arrived in Armenia as foreign investments in the first quarter of
this year, (without investments obtained by the government and the
banking sector). Foreign direct investments (FDI) stood at about
    249.9 billion drams.

The two-day Armenian-German business forum was started today. It is
the joint effort of the Armenian Development Agency and the German
Embassy in Armenia. The forum has brought to Yerevan German businessmen
representing various areas of the industry - manufacturers of pumps
and measuring equipment, machine tools for the production of food
packaging, energy sector and production of agricultural machinery. ($1
    - 412.37 drams). -0--
