Armenia head coach Bernard Challandes sees an opportunity for his
team to compete for qualification to European championship finals
after last week's 1-1 draw against Serbia in Yerevan.

Missing a number of key players, including injured playmaker Henrikh
Mkhitaryan, strikers Yura Movsisyan, Gevorg Ghazaryan and midfielder
Aras Ozbiliz, Armenia came close to beating their formidable rivals
in the second Euro-2016 Group I qualifier.

Robert Arzumanyan scored for Armenia in the 73rd minute. Before
the Serbs managed to equalize seconds before stoppage time, Marcos
Pizzelli missed an opportunity to double Armenia's lead. He, however,
failed to convert the penalty awarded after foul play against striker
Artur Sarkisov in the Serbian penalty area.

This was the first point picked by the Armenian national team in the
current Euro-2016 qualifying campaign. In their first qualifier last
month the Havakakan lost to Denmark in Copenhagen 1-2.

After the Friday match Armenia's Swiss tactician said he was satisfied
with the game. "Because our guys have shown that they are really a
team," he commented, according to the official website of the Football
    Federation of Armenia.

"I am sure that we can compete for qualification," Challandes
continued. "When our leading players return, we will be in a position
to beat rivals both at home and away. We can make good progress with
such mentality. Our guys have the heart, have the will, and with this
team, I'm confident, we can go to [Euro-2016 finals in] France."

Armenia will travel to Portugal for their next qualifier on November
    14. Before that, the team will host France in a friendly on October
    14. According to Challandes, Armenia approaches seriously the match
against France. "It cannot be just a friendly game as France is
France. We cannot approach this match otherwise," he said.
