PRESIDENT CHING-KUO WU SUGGESTED ARTUR GEVORGYAN TO BE NOMINATED FOR THE MEMBER OF THE AIBA EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE

    October 23 2014

The AIBA elections will be held in Korea on November 10-15, in
which Ching-Kuo Wu is again nominated for the position of the AIBA
President who in recent years being the head of this structure,
has introduced many innovations trying to save the amateur boxing
reputation. In the upcoming elections, Artur Gevorgyan, the NA MP,
also President of Armenia's Boxing Federation, is first time nominated
for the candidates for the AIBA Executive Committee members. Artur
Gevorgyan has passed a long way in this sport. How was this serious
and important decision made? Artur Gevorgyan said to Aravot.am,
"The suggested came from Mr. Wu. During our first meeting, we had a
very interesting conversation up to a clash of views. He liked that
there is one, who opposes him. Mr. Wu asking why I am not in the AIBA
Executive Committee, suggested me to be included in the candidates
in the upcoming elections." To the question of whether there are
chances, Artur Gevorgyan replied, "The elections are going to be very
difficult. 260 countries will vote. The competition will be great. The
candidates have presented their CVs. I have studied the biographies
of my future competitors to orient to whom I will vote for. Unlike
many others, I am from sports, moreover, from boxing. In fact, both
amateur and professional. I am a sportsman participating in two Olympic
Games and a World and Continental Championships, I am working in the
government, and I am in the politics, today. In other words, I present
from a very active field. I think they should be interested in this."
