KISELYOV HAS SET UP NEW RADIO STATION IN ARMENIA

A new radio station has been set up in Armenia. The Voice of Russia
is the joint project of Russia Today and News Armenia. According to
its director, the radio station was set up to inform about Russia's
position in Armenian, not for an information war.

Radio is a sacral mass media for Armenia. in the Soviet years when
Armenia was separated with an iron curtain bot only from the outer
world but also its historical habitat and Diaspora, the only window
was the Voice of America in Armenian. The Armenians tuned to the
"Voice" as they called it softly to listen to what was happening in
the world. In 1965, the 50thanniversary of the Genocide, the Voice
of America influenced the decision in Armenia to build a monument to
the memory of victims and announced that Turkey had perpetrated it.

After the collapse of the Soviet Union it seemed that the information
war was far behind and it was time for pure journalism. However, the
Soviet propaganda transformed to Russian propaganda, then Eurasian
propaganda which outdid the Soviet one with its falsification and
aggression. The Russian public TV and radio channels are broadcast on
decimeter frequencies, and most Armenian TV channels simply translate
    reports from Russian.

The Armenian service of Radio Liberty which is heard everywhere, in
buses, taxis, cafes, has therefore played an important role. It is not
accidental that the Armenian taxi drivers are the most politically
mature ones in the world. They listen to Radio Liberty and few of
them believe in the propaganda bursting out of Russian TV channels.

Therefore, perhaps, Mr. Kiselyov, the head of Russia Today was upset.

The Voice of Russia has defeated the Russian people in the information
war. Now it has targeted the Armenian people. The director of the
radio is saying that it has been set up to disseminate Russia's
position. They think in the Kremlin that Armenia resisted Russian
imperial projects due to lack of information on Russia's stance. And
if they explain to people properly, they will voluntarily give up
independence and everything for the sake of being with Russia.

Armenia is not watching Russian TV channels, which is evidence that
the Russian stance does not favor Armenians. There was a time when
the Voice of America catalyzed the collapse of the Soviet empire. The
Voice of Russia will catalyze the fall of the Russian empire.

And there is another circumstance. RIA Novosti has been renamed Russia
Today, which means its branch offices will be renamed as well. The
Georgian branch, News Georgia, is in a deadlock. It cannot be renamed
Russia Today-Georgia because Georgia will not have this.

It is interesting what News Armenia will be called. Will it be renamed
    Russia Today-Armenia?
