ARMENIAN PARLIAMENT CONSIDERS CANDIDACY OF ARTUR JAVADIAN FOR POST OF CBA CHAIRMAN

    ARKA
    June 10, 2008

YEREVAN, June 10. /ARKA/. Armenian Parliament considered candidacy
of the current Vice-Chairman of the Central Bank of Armenia (CBA)
Artur Javadian for the post of the CBA Chairman. The nomination was
suggested by the President of Armenia Serge Sargsian and is the only
    one, ARKA Agency reports.

Javadian has been the Vice-Chairman of the CBA for the last two months
after the former CBA Chairman Tigran Sargsian was appointed as Premier
    of Armenia on April 9.

Javadian appreciated the honor of being nominated for such a high
post. He assured he will ensure independence and impartiality of
actions to be taken by the Central Bank and will make every effort
to implement the ambitious plans of the government.

Among priorities for the Central Bank mentioned by Javadian were
ensuring stability of prices, scotching inflation risks in the country,
stable economic development, development of financial system and
strengthening protection of consumers' rights in the country.

All coalition parliamentary forces have already supported the
nomination of Javadian. The uncontested election of the Chairman of
the Central Bank is to be held tomorrow morning.
