    Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan welcomed today First Vice-President
    of RF Government Igor Shuvalov.

    Greeting the guest, the Prime Minister appreciated Mr. Shuvalov's
    visit to Armenia from the perspective of strengthened bilateral
    ties and expressed confidence that it would help extend the scope of
    interaction. Tigran Sargsyan said to be pleased with the current level
    of Armenia-Russia relations in both bilateral and multilateral formats.

    Thanking the Prime Minister for reception, Igor Shuvalov said he valued
    much both bilateral ties in and interaction in the CIS frameworks and
    emphasized the importance of exchanges in the field of fundamental
    research and innovations. He touched upon the celebrations of Great
    Patriotic War Victory 65th anniversary celebrations, as well as other
    issues of mutual concern.

    Bearing in mind that 2010 was proclaimed year of science and
    innovations in the CIS countries, the parties have referred to the
    pace of joint action. Joint research work was said to have been
    carried out in biochemistry, neurochemistry, molecular biology,
    medical genetics, chemical physics and other spheres. The outlook
    of nuclear medicine in Armenia and the possibility for opening an
    Armenian-Russian innovative center have been discussed.

    Tigran Sargsyan stressed his government's focus on developing high
    technologies in Armenia and noted that the existing traditions may
    add relish to the mutually advantageous cooperation.

    The head of government further said that notwithstanding the crisis,
    Armenia had honored all of its commitments assumed within the CIS
    framework, with the financial contributions settled ahead of schedule.

    Steps are underway toward implementing the first stage of the CIS
    economic development strategy.

    The interlocutors also spoke about the operations of Russian companies
    involved in Armenia and the pace of cooperation in power engineering,
    transport and other spheres.
