STATEMENT OF ALGERIAN PM WAS BLOW FOR TURKEY - EXPERT

    News from Armenia - NEWS.am
    January 10, 2012 | 00:04

YEREVAN. - The threats made by Turkey after the adoption of the bill
on criminalizing the denial of the Armenian Genocide had the opposite
effects, expert Andranik Ispiryan told Armenian News-NEWS.am and
added that Turkey did not realize any of the threats it had announced
    moreover they damage Turkey's interests.

"Turkish PM Recep Tayyip ERdogan's statement about the 'Algerian
genocide' received a harsh reply from the Algerian PM Ahmet Oyahyan,
which was a blow for Turkey," the expert said quoting Algerian PM who
had warned Turkey not to make the blood shed by Algerians subject to
    political speculations.

According to Andranik Ispiryan, this also was hard for the Turkish
media. There have even been statements that the Algerian PM's answer
has put Turkey in a difficult condition. Several Turkish reporters
even criticized Erdogan pointing out that there was no need to talk of
the Algerian Genocide while Algeria and France are in good relations.

According to the expert, Turkey's threats did not frighten France,
moreover they added to France's steps against Turkey. Ispiryan pointed
out that besides adopting the bill in France Sarkozy is trying to
achieve the criminalization of the denial of the Armenian Genocide to
be included in the framework of the 'Struggle against racism program'
adopted by the EU in 2007. This means that Sarkozy's aim is that the
bill to be adopted in all EU countries.

"This proves that Turkish threats do not mean anything in international
    relations anymore," Ispiryan mentioned.

As Armenian News-NEWS.am informed earlier, during the press conference
on January 7 directing his word to Recep Tayyip Erdogan, Algerian PM
    Ahmet Oyahyan stated:

"Each side is free to choose the way of defending their interests but
no one is allowed to speculate with the blood shed by Algerians. We
advise our Turkish colleagues not trade with our blood."
