    ANGELA MERKEL: I AM CONVINCED THAT ARMENIA WILL CONTINUE ITS REFORMS IN DIRECTION OF ESTABLISHMENT OF DEMOCRACY, LEGAL STATE AND MARKET ECONOMY

    YEREVAN, APRIL 9, NOYAN TAPAN. According to the report provided to
    Noyan Tapan from RA government Information and Public Relations
    Department, congratulatory telegrams continue to be received in
    connection with Serge Sargsian's appointment to the post of RA Prime
    Minister.

    The telegram of French Prime Minister Dominique de Villepin, in
    particular, read: "After Andranik Margarian's painful death, I
    have no doubt that you will be able to strengthen the work of your
    predecessor and to continue leading Armenia by the way of economic
    and political reforms with the same resolution and with the same
    spirit of co-thinking."

    The telegram of German Chancellor Angela Merkel mentioned: "I am
    convinced that Armenia will resolutely continue its reforms in the
    direction of establishment of democracy, legal state and market
    economy. On that way henceforth Germany will continue supporting
    Armenia within the limits of its forces."

    Nikolay Rizhkov, member of RF Federal Council, Co-chairman of
    Interparliamentary Commission on Cooperation between RA NA and RF
    Federal Council, in his congratulatory speech said: "Your profound
    knowledge of programs of state scale, your choice of right ways
    of fulfilling them cause great respect and no doubt permit you to
    successfully solve the complicated problems of country's socio-economic
    development. Your great experience on the post of country's Defence
    Minisrer, your certain consistent steps as Chairman of Armenian-Russian
    Intergovernmental Commission for Economic Cooperation are a firm basis
    for development of good-neighborly relations between our peoples. I
    am sure that mutual understanding on cooperation of Intergovernmental
    and Interparliamentary Commissions achieved between our countries
    will continue working in favor of Armenia and Russia."

    Nikolay Bordyuzha, Secretary General of Collective Security Treaty
    Organization, also addressed his congratulatory speech to Serge
    Sargsian. "During your previous activity you had a great contribution
    in the issue of strengthening Armenia's statehood, securing its
    defence efficiency and security. I express confidence that in the
    future you will also devote your efforts in the interests of Armenian
    people providing active participation of Republic of Armenia in the
    issue of strengthening peace and stability within the framework of
    Collective Security Treaty Organization."

    The congratulatory telegram of Vladimir Rushaylo, Chairman and
    Executive Secretary of CIS Executive Committee, in particular, read:
    "I am sure that your experience, purposefulness and knowledge will
    be a guarantee for the sake of prosperity and well-being of Armenian
    people. Let me also express the hope that your experience on the post
    of RA Prime Minister will be the best stimulus for development and
    strengthening cooperation within the framework of CIS."

    NKR President Arkady Ghoukassian in his congratulatory speech expressed
    the hope that on the high and responsible post of RA Prime Minister
    S. Sargsian will use his rich experience, knowledge and devotion for
    the sake of prosperity of Armenian people, successful implementation
    of all national problems and programs.
