TEACHERS OF SOCIAL SCIENCES AND NATURAL SCIENCES SUBJECTS TO PASS RETRAINING THIS YEAR

YEREVAN, APRIL 10, NOYAN TAPAN. Teachers of natural sciences and social
sciences subjects will pass retraining within the framework of program
of professional perfection of teachers starting 2007 in Armenia.
As Norayr Ghukasian, Director of RA National Institute of Education,
reported at the April 10 press conference, retraining courses of
specialists on these specialities will start in June-July this
year. Teachers of Armenian Language, Literature, Mathematics,
Informatics and former masters of primary schools have already passed
retraining at 52 school-centers created in various regions of Armenia
and in Yerevan at the first stage of the program.
In N. Ghukasian's words, during retraining courses of form masters it
is also planned to organize meetings with authors of new textbooks,
the goal of which is to acquaint form masters in advance with use of
new curricula and textbooks.
"New textbooks on various subjects, subject criteria and curricula are
first tested at the very retraining courses, which enables teachers
to get acquainted with new books and new methods of teaching, on the
basis of which the main and alternative textbooks on the same subject
are selected," the Director of the Institute said.
