NDP CHAIRMAN: PRIVILEGES SHOULD BE INTRODUCED FOR ARMENIAN INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY ENTERPRISES

YEREVAN, APRIL 19, NOYAN TAPAN. Tax and customs privileges should
be introduced for Armenian IT enterprises in order to ensure
competitiveness of the country's IT sector. Chairman of the National
Democratic Party (NDP) Shavarsh Kocharian stated this during the
April 19 meeting with representatives of Armenian IT enterprises.
In his words, in case of not introducing such privileges, the
investments that foreign companies are planning to make in Armenia's
IT sector may be made, for example, in Turkey where some economic
zones with a zero rate of taxation of IT companies have been created.
He also gave the example of Azerbaijan that has developed a program on
its IT sector development until 2025. It is envisaged that revenues
of Azerbaijan's IT sector may replace revenues of the oil sector
as in 2025, the oil resources of Azerbaijan will be on the brink of
running out.
