RA GOVERNMENT APPROVES OF 2008 ANNUAL DRAFT PROJECT ON SOCIAL DEFENCE OF DISABLED PEOPLE

YEREVAN, AUGUST 24, NOYAN TAPAN.The RA government approved of the
drafts of the 2008 annual project on the social protection of disabled
people and list of measures in the August 23 sitting. The project has
been developed in accordance with the RA Law on "Social protection
of disabled people in the Republic of Armenia."
Like previous years, it is envisaged to implement about thirty measures
directed at the social defence of disabled people and improvement
of the quality of their lives in 2008 as well, which follow from
the provisions of the "2006-2015 strategy for social defence of
disabled people," which was approved of the RA government in 2005. The
measures will be directed at integrating disabled people into society,
providing their medical, social, and psychological rehabilitaiton
process, as well as implementing other goals and problems concerning
the inclusive education of disabled people.
According to the information provided to Noyan Tapan by the Information
and Public Relations' Department of the RA government, the 2008 measure
project for defence of children's rights, which has been worked out in
accordance with the RA Law on "Children's rights", was also approved
in the sitting by the RA government. The project is directed at the
improvement of the legislation on the children's sphere, the social
provision of children, improvement of health problems, reforms in
the educational sphere, as well as the organization of rest, pastime,
and cultural life.
