    AZERBAIJANI-RUSSIAN NEGOTIATIONS ON STRATEGIC ISSUES WERE HELD IN BAKU;
The Foreign Ministry of Azerbaijan had a briefing dedicated to results
of negotiations between Baku and Moscow dedicated to security issues.

Yesterday, the Foreign Ministry of Azerbaijan had a briefing dedicated
to results of negotiations between Baku and Moscow dedicated to
security issues. Deputy Foreign Minister of Russia, Sergei Kislyak,
and Deputy Foreign Minister of Azerbaijan, Araz Azimov, tried to
convey the main topic of the meeting to local journalists.

Answering questions of journalists, Azimov reported that the parties
discussed issues of regional, international and global security. In
turn, the Russian diplomat emphasized that the parties also touched
on the problem of the Gabala radar station.

The Deputy Foreign Minister of Azerbaijan adds that this radar station
remains property of Azerbaijan and is rented by Russia.

Azimov also says, "There are no changes in this aspect."

With regard to the Kremlin's proposal to use the radar station in
Gabala in cooperation, Baku will join the relevant consultations
between Washington and Moscow if necessary.

Moreover, Azimov proposed taking the meeting held yesterday as one
    of directions of such consultations.

Answering questions of journalists, Deputy Foreign Minister of Russia,
Kislyak, said that Moscow was not going to broaden its military
contingent in Armenia in response to deployment of US AMD elements
in Poland and the Czech Republic.

Both diplomats also said that in the framework of discussion of
regional security they also touched on the process of resolving the
    Armenian-Azerbaijani conflict in Nagorno-Karabakh.
