HIGH MARKS REGISTERED IN ENTRANCE EXAMINATION OF GEOGRAPHY

    Noyan Tapan
    Aug 1, 2007

YEREVAN, AUGUST 1, NOYAN TAPAN. Average marks overbalanced in the
examination of Geography during the ten days of Higher Educational
Institutional entrance examinations. According to the information
provided to a Noyan Tapan correspondent by Ashot Khoyetsian, the
Chairman of the Examination Commission, eight 20 points have been
registered according to the data of these days, and 12 and 11 entrants
received 8 and lower than 8 points, correspondingly. 405 entrants
instead of 419 took examinations between July 20 to 29.

According to the Chairman of the Commission, the number of those,
who received 18 and 19 points, is rather great, which is a result
of holding examinations in a test system. "In difference to previous
years, there are only two tasks in the variants this time. There were
mainly theoretical questions in the examination tickets until 2006,
which demanded from entrants analysis, logic, individual comment
on cause and effect ties within the limits of school manuals, and,
at present, all this has been reduced to minimum, which operates in
favor of an entrant," Ashot Khoyetsian said.

The number of those entrants, who got unsatisfactory marks, is small:
11 entrants, in general, who, according to Ashot Khoyetsian, had not
prepared for the examinations in a proper way and took part in the
examinations only to try themselves. In the opinion of the Chairman
of the Commission, the number of those absent from the examinations
was also small this year, that is to say, one or two entrants a day.
