IS AZERBAIJAN GOING TO START WAR AGAINST NAGORNY KARABAKH UNDER 'DEMOCRATIC SLOGAN' OF FIGHT AGAINST KURDISH TERRORISM?

    2007-12-11 12:39:00

ArmInfo. Azerbaijani power representatives have been recently making
allegations against Armenia and Nagorny Karabakh saying that allegedly
Kurdish bases are or will be redeployed there.

Azerbaijani media report that Azerbaijani Deputy Foreign Minister
Araz Azimov told journalists Monday 'Azerbaijan is ready to start
anti-terrorist operations against PKK detachments deployed in Nagorny
    Karabakh'.

'Deployment of PKK military bases in the occupied territories shows the
international community how right our earlier statements were. Official
Baku has been accusing Armenia of illegal settlement of Armenians from
Middle East and Kurds in the occupied Nagorny Karabakh. The authorities
are concerned about this' he said. Ana Veten Party Chairman Fazail
Agamali belives that 'anti-terrorist operations against PKK in the
territory of Nagorny Karabakh may become crucial for liberation of
our lands occupied by Armenian separatists'. However, the statements
by Azerbaijani officials are quite contradictory. Thus, few days ago,
Head of the Foreign Relations Department of Azerbaijani President's
Executive Office Novruz Mamedov told APA that 'deployment of PKK
terrorist in Nagorny Karabakh has not been proved so far. I suppose
there is a little probability of deployment of terrorist there'.

The postscript to today's item in Zerkalo entitled 'Azerbaijan is
ready to make away Kurdish terrorist in Karabakh> says that 'making
militarist statements about starting anti-terrorist operations in the
terrorist out of Azerbaijan's jurisdiction, the authorities do not
respond to the information published in some opposition and independent
newspapers on the ties of isolated power representatives with Kurdish
terrorists and on existence of Kurdish terrorists in the territory
of Nakhijevan Autonomous Republic and Geranboy region'. Thus, one
can draw a conclusion from the statements by Azerbaijani officials
that a large-scale propaganda is underway to present Armenia to the
world community as supporter of international terrorism.

Evidently, the Azerbaijani authorities believe that it can justify
the beginning of military actions under a 'democratic slogan' of
    fight against terrorism.
