TATUL MANASERYAN SUGGESTS BEING AN INITIATOR IN THE REGION
''In the course of recent 10 months, Armenia's import rate is by 300
percent higher than export and it is pointless to speak about economic
development,'' Tatul Manaseryan, deputy of parliament and economist by
profession, said. In his words, it has caused an economic collapse. He
said there is obvious dependency on economic relations with some
countries, especially Russia. ''The political investments are also
dangerous for the independence of our country. In case there is a
change in the foreign vector of Armenia, that dependency may yield
unpredictable results,'' the economist pinpointed.
Speaking about Turkey-Georgia-Azerbaijan economic and political
cooperation, Manaseryan said that despite of the fact that some
economic and political figures want to contradict that cooperation
with Russia-Armenia-Iran but it would be more correct if Armenia tries
to consolidate the interests of the main regional players by
initiating a competitive economic zone.
